Well guys, seems that summer is coming here in Sardinia! 20°C at 6:30AM this morning and yesterday it was around 30°C.. Auch! I fear that will be a really really hot summer.. Luckily i can move to the sea whenever i want. icon_mrgreen.gif

By the way, nice idea to open this thread, i hope it will be usefull for many italian's bikers! 0509_up.gif
My english skill it's quite good when i write and read, it's a bit difficult to understand when the people speaks fast (or at least it seems to me but they talk normal icon_mrgreen.gif ), but at least i'm understandable when i'm the one who is speaking. 0509_doppio_ok.gif

Anyway, who even tried to understand japanese people when they speak english? Damn, they are really hard to understand and most of the times i'm lost and i keep watching them like "Hey dude what the hell did you said?". icon_asd.gif Anyone else feel the same with them? icon_rolleyes.gif

Here in Sicily at the moment we have a very great weather, more or less about 25 °C, but I'm sure that next to the summer the temperatures will rise! icon_eek.gif Usually in July/August we have about 35 °C! 0510_sad.gif
Anyway, I opened this topic because I really do love English language, I'd like to speak it everyday with anyone I meet!
Your written English is quite good, according to you, and I think it is! Of course, the "spoken" language is the most difficult to understand, but with a little bit of practice you will improve your listening! icon_wink.gif

I heard some Japanese to speak in English: the pronunciation is not very good, except for people with degree or someone who studied it well, but there are a lot of others people (for example the Indians) who can't pronounce it very well icon_asd.gif

Now, this is an excellent idea! I live in Tarquinia, about 80Km North of Rome, on the Tyrrhenian coast. Once a powerful Etruscan city, now not so powerful anymore, Tarquinia is still full of ancient buildings and monuments and loads of tourists come to visit Etruscan tombs here.

I love riding my BWM R1200RT, the fourth of the series, and, together with my partner, we like touring in Italy as well as abroad. In a few weeks we will be leaving for Norway where we hope to spend a very nice 4 weeks riding across the country. We may reach Nordkapp but only if we do not get stuck before in some lovely place. I have been to the Cape in 2009 and, frankly, it is not that great; as the say goes: the journey is the reward!

It wil be nice chatting with you guys and maybe we can meet sometime! 0510_saluto.gif

Well Marco, I think that your motorbike is absolutely perfect for long trips! It looks so comfortable, you can load it very well and the engine is very good (110 CV, right?)!
I got a wonderful 2005 Honda Hornet (you can see it here more or less at half page: Topic presentazioni nuovi possessori Honda Hornet ), I bought it in last September and I love it! I'd like to take some trip as you do, but my bike it's no properly comfortable for that, and also my almost-wife doesn't like it very much...
Anyway, please stay in touch and let us know some news about your Nordkapp trip! 0509_up.gif

Indeed, the RT is a very comfortable bike, but I have been riding about 3,000Km in a week to go through the Route des Grandes Alpes last August on a small Kawasaki ER-6N, always with my girlfriend on the back seat, so I know how it is to ride for long hours on a not-so-comfortable bike... icon_asd.gif

I will be writing a live report of our trip to Norway and will post the link here so that, if you are interested, you will be able to follow us step-by-step. It will be in Italian, though, but I can summarize it in English here for you! 0509_up.gif

Hi everybody,

finally I've found a very nice topic where I can speak English at all! I just love it!
So, I'm new here on the Tingavert and I wish to have fun!
My name is Danilo and I'm originally from Rome but, 'cause of work I've been living in the Chianti zone just next to Florence since last year. It's such a beautiful green area with hills, slopes, curves icon_wink.gif driven by my bike with taking-breath views!

I've got a 9y.o. Suzuki GSX 750F since this May and I'm proudly happy for that! I called her My Little Bimba SUZY!! 0509_doppio_ok.gif

I'm looking forward to this Sunday coming 'cause we're meeting and riding all together on Tingavert from Tuscany towards the Trasimeno Lake, having a good lunch and much fun! It will be my first motorbike meeting ever.... so excited!!!

Se yaa, on the road!!!

Having a good look around the forums and have just found this English 'zone' - I hope I will be forgiven for using my husband's profile for this message, but I wanted to add a comment before I lost the thread! I will certainly sign up in my own name shortly, but just wanted to say that I am British, living in the Veneto. We have a Guzzi Stelvio now, but last year we did a road trip over to the UK and back with a Guzzi California - the so-called 'Ciupa Ciupa' - a beautiful bike - extremely comfortable but not adapted to all road situations (and with a relatively small tank). We are both in the well over 50s (I will shortly celebrate my 62nd birthday) but as eager as ever to get out on the bike come summer or winter.

Hope to be able to contribute occasionally in the forums - doubt if my husband will write much, so I must sign up for myself. There's a lot to learn in here - and if any newbies of a certain age want to discuss bike travel with a little grey-haired biddy, I'm possibly the one to talk to!!!

Ah! Good to find a native English speaker. It was starting to look like it were only we Italians practicing! icon_asd.gif Please correct our mistakes! 0509_up.gif

You and your husband may be interested in checking this forum out: Forum Over50 The OVER50 group is rather active, we organize trips and events and would very warmly welcome you both! You may also look at our member list Over-50 [Censimento]

We have 80 members from Veneto so far! Of course, just a small percentage of the members are really active, but we got about 100 participants in our V Raduno Nazionale last August in Assisi (the report is here Report V Raduno OVER50 ).

Welcome! 0510_saluto.gif
